Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born 25th August, 1949) is an American television chef and host. She also was an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals simple, easy-to-learn techniques for home cooks on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also worked at the top New York eateries, studied Italian food, its culture and traditions and has was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for food and cooking early on. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for the management of restaurants after she graduated with an English/Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I was a huge Culinary Institute of American student. I loved every minute of it." The Culinary Institute of the Americas was an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree. After graduation, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, which is a Michelin-starred establishment. Burrell gained a greater understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions during her stay in Italy and this has affected her style of cooking. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board participant, with the goal of to increase the quality of life for children facing challenges. Burrell also serves as a Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity ambassador, and is a vocal advocate for awareness of childhood diabetes. As an inspirational speaker, she makes trips across the country to speak about her passion for cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. Through her culinary adventures, Anne often says that she feels very fortunate to share what I love most in life with others.
